Spanish actress Penelope Cruz was honoured with her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, becoming the first Spanish actress to receive the accolade (the first Spanish actor to receive this recognition was Antonio Banderas). Sharing in the celebrations at the ceremony was her co-star from the latest installment of Pirates of the Caribbean, Johnny Depp, together with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Rob Marshall, and also Penelope Cruz’s husband, Spanish actor Javier Bardem. Penelope Cruz also holds the distinction not only of being the first Spanish actress to be nominated for an Academy Award (“Oscar”), but also of being the first to actually win one.
